Computing Curriculum

Intent of our Computing Curriculum

At the heart of our Primary Computing Curriculum is a strong desire to spark a love and passion for Computing that will last well beyond the classroom. Recognising the crucial role technology plays in today’s world, we aim to engage our children and encourage curiosity about the digital realm. Through a variety of exciting and interactive activities, we inspire children to explore, innovate, and express themselves creatively, helping them to develop a lifelong appreciation for Computing.

We want to make sure children have the essential knowledge and understanding of Computing that will provide a solid foundation for their future. By covering key concepts such as Digital Literacy, Computer Science and Information Technology, we ensure that children become familiar with important ideas and can apply them in practical ways. We believe mastering these skills is vital for helping children navigate the complexities of our digital age, as they move on to the next stage of their lives.

Our curriculum also focuses on developing Computing skills that can be used in a variety of situations. We understand that the ability to adapt these skills is important for future learning and personal growth. Children are encouraged to think critically and work together, boosting their problem-solving abilities and preparing them for real-world challenges. A significant part of our programme is also dedicated to teaching children how to stay safe online, helping them cultivate a sense of responsibility and awareness about being good digital citizens.

We hold high expectations for all our learners, recognising their unique strengths and areas for growth. Our Computing curriculum is designed to be inclusive and meet the diverse needs of every student. By providing varied learning opportunities, tailored resources, and supportive teaching strategies, we ensure that all children can engage with and succeed in Computing, no matter where they start. This commitment to inclusivity fosters resilience, self-confidence, and a sense of achievement within our children.
