Music Curriculum
Intent for our Music Curriculum
The intent of our Primary Music Curriculum is founded on the belief that music can be a powerful force for personal and social growth. Our main goal is to help children develop a genuine love and passion for music, igniting an appreciation that will last well beyond their time at school. Through a lively and engaging music programme, we aim to spark enthusiasm and joy in exploring music's rich variety across different genres and cultures.
Our curriculum provides children with essential musical knowledge and understanding, equipping them with the skills necessary for their future education and stages of life. We prioritise a range of musical experiences that not only develop competent musicians but also enhance critical thinking and listening skills, which are invaluable in various contexts. A core focus of our music curriculum is the development of transferable skills and concepts. Through engaging activities, children learn creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving, enabling them to adapt their musical knowledge to different situations and enhancing their readiness for future learning.
We uphold high expectations within our Music Curriculum, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their starting point. Recognising the uniqueness of each child, our inclusive programme offers tailored support and challenges to meet diverse needs, fostering an environment where all children feel valued and inspired to express themselves musically.
