P.E. Curriculum
Intent for our P.E. Curriculum
At the heart of our Physical Education (PE) Curriculum is our commitment to inspire a genuine love and passion for physical activity in our children. We believe that encouraging a positive attitude towards Physical Education from an early age is essential for nurturing not just active individuals, but lifelong enthusiasts of health and well-being. By engaging in a variety of physical activities, we aim to spark enthusiasm and motivation that extends beyond their school years, helping them to develop habits that will enrich their lives for years to come.
Alongside fostering a love for physical activity, our curriculum is designed to provide children with the knowledge and understanding necessary for their next life stages. Through a comprehensive framework, we teach essential concepts such as physical fitness, teamwork and fair play, ensuring that children grasp the importance of these lessons both in and out of the classroom. This foundational knowledge will be invaluable as they transition into secondary education and beyond, enabling them to face future challenges with confidence.
Furthermore, our curriculum emphasises the development of skills and concepts in Physical Education that are transferable to various contexts. By involving children in diverse activities—ranging from traditional sports to dance and gymnastics—we nurture not only their physical abilities but also their adaptability and resilience. These transferable skills are key in preparing children for future learning opportunities, fostering a well-rounded approach to personal growth.
We are dedicated to maintaining high expectations within our PE curriculum while ensuring that we meet the diverse needs of all learners. Recognising that every child is unique, we strive to create an inclusive environment that caters to different abilities, interests, and backgrounds. Our teaching strategies are designed to challenge each learner, promoting a sense of achievement and self-worth. Through adaptive teaching and supportive practices, we empower all children to realise their potential, ensuring they feel valued and included in their learning journey.
