Science Curriculum

Intent for our Science Curriculum

The intent of our Science Curriculum at Grosvenor Road Primary is to instil a lasting love and enthusiasm for Science in our children, encouraging a curiosity that will endure throughout their lives. We recognise that building a strong appreciation for the sciences is not just about understanding biology, chemistry and physics; it is about encouraging critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills that will benefit them throughout their lives.

At the core of our curriculum is the goal of equipping pupils with essential knowledge and understanding of Science, which is crucial as they progress in their education. By exposing them to key scientific concepts and methods, we aim to prepare them for the complexities of a world increasingly shaped by science and technology, ensuring they leave primary school with both key knowledge and skills.

Additionally, our curriculum focuses on developing Science skills that are transferable across various contexts. We recognise the importance of scientific thinking and investigation, which empowers children to navigate real-world challenges and future academic pursuits. Through engaging activities and collaborative work, we foster resilience and adaptability.

We set high expectations for all learners in our Science curriculum, ensuring that every child is both challenged and supported. Our commitment to inclusive learning experiences accommodates diverse abilities, allowing us to meet individual needs while maintaining high standards.
